Naval Special Warfare Group 2
S.E.A.L. Team 8Hello, first of all thanks for taking the time to read through this post. This post will be short and to the point, giving you all the information you would need on the unit. This includes requirements, ways to contact the unit, what we do, etc. If you have any questions, feel free to use the sources provided below and we will try and get to you soon.
Who are we?S.E.A.L. Team 8 (ST8) was founded in September of 2013 with the intent of forming a platoon sized force of tight knit friends. ST8 can be pretty laid back when off the field, but when operating we keep to a high standard of discipline and realism to ensure an authentic experience. The unit has not focused on growing in size, our primary focus is on ensuring that current members are mature, professional, and overall well trained in Special Operations Tactics, Procedures, and Techniques. With that said, the unit requests dedication from its members as well as professionalism while operating in ArmA 3. We are however, very open to meeting other people and opening our arms. We are often on our public operations server engaging with public players, trying to create a very friendly atmosphere for all, members or not.
What We DoAs stated, we are attempting to provide an authentic experience. We train heavily, ensuring that we can replicate the S.E.A.L.s as best we can while still maintaining a level of fun for the players, the last thing we want is for this to become a job. We operate on a regular basis; 1400 EST for training on Saturday and Sunday, and 1600 EST for our operations. Also, on Wednesday night we might get on at around 2100 or 2130 EST to play together for a fun night, but this is not mandatory. We primarily follow this schedule as we realize that many people have work, school, and other things going on during the week. People have lives, and we are well aware.
Our operations primarily include but are not limited to
- Sensitive Site Exploitation
- Direct Action
- Special Reconnaissance
- Unconventional Warfare
- Hostage Rescue
- Personnel Recovery
- Hydrographic Reconnaissance
- Visit, Board, Search, Seizure
Training and Requirements
So firstly, lets start off with our requirements, as the rest is pointless if you do not meet these. There are VERY few exceptions, if any, to these requirements,
- Be at least 17 years of age,
- Own a legal copy of ArmA 3,
- Have a working microphone, Teamspeak 3, and a stable internet connection,
- Be a team player and able to follow orders and/or chain of command,
- Be willing to dedicate time towards the unit, as the unit shall to you,
- Must be able to make at least one unit event a week and complete the training process in the required time frame,
- Maintain respect for yourself and others at all times.
Now, on to training. Our training is a month and a half long as to ensure proper training techniques are maintained, and also allowing members to retain those very same skills learned during mock operations with the unit on Saturdays and Sundays. This is also to ensure dedication to the unit, and make sure we only receive the quality members within the unit, as the unit will stop recruitment once a platoon size is achieved.
Training consists of three schools
- Basic Underwater Demolition/S.E.A.L. (BUD/S)
- Parachute Jump School (PJS)
- S.E.A.L. Qualification Training (SQT)
Obviously, it is required that you pass all of these schools to become a full member of the unit, and then you can begin Individual Specialty Training (IST) to become your designated MOS. Each school is split into phases and qualifies you with different abilities. Do note that you will be restricted to Iron Sights on a M16A4 until completion of BUD/S when you are qualified with optics and other weaponry.
How Do I Join?
Joining is a very simplistic process. Firstly, before you even consider joining, you should connect to our teamspeak 3 (posted below) and come chat and get to know us. Once you feel you are ready, visit our website (Posted Below) and head to the forums. Create and account and simply follow the instructions under the "Training and Recruitment Information" section. From there, your application will be reviewed and if accepted, a period of candidacy will begin where you are evaluated before the next BUD/S class for levels of maturity, professionalism, and other traits and attributes. This process is simplistic and very hard to get incorrect, simply follow the guidelines to the point.
